Injury

This morning we discovered that Abbey had hurt her eye overnight. The upper lid has quite a gash in it as well as the area under her eye. The eye itself seems to be okay – thank goodness!! We cleaned it all up and gave her a dose of bute for the pain. She also has a scrap on one knee and one shoulder. We went through the entire pasture looking for signs of what could have happened but the only thing we found were some white facial hairs on the round bale feeder. In front of the feeder were some marks in the mud that look like hooves sliding. It appears that something startled her and she ran into the round bale feeder – maybe? We will watch her very closely and if we determine she needs more help that we can do, we will be having the doctor out to see her. Poor old girl, she has had a rough life in the past. She does not deserve to get an injury.
